This Marketing Campaign Sucks

It appears Time Warner thought they could generate something like “Snakes on A Plane” ‘buzz’ by creating this site… but it went up in what, late November? And only now have they tacked on a banner ad for “Legend”? Hey Time Warner execs.! You shoulda started this site 6 months ago and been more active about steering at least some topics to tie-in with the movie… rather then going live weeks before the movie premiers and taking a laissez-faire approach to the discussions on the forum. Now you have a bunch of folks discussing everything BUT the movie (present forum excepted), and the only ‘buzz’ being generated off the site is how wacky the topics are in here. Maybe Time Warner can salvage something from all this by letting it evolve into a theology/philosophy blog site, with lots of user-generated content they don’t have to pay for. |

Well, I think thay were keeping it kind of a secret, especially from us early arrivals, till more recently. People here didn’t notice the connection till about ten or 12 days ago. Now, this interesting place has developed. Look at some of the administrator’s posts, they say more than once that they will not take this away from us. That was about ten days ago. It is all very confusing. Are they renting the site to T/W maybe? Let’s ask about the connection to the movie, in this section and the site suggestion section, OK? Maybe they’ll tell us! |

Ya know what scares me, Kookoo- It seems like maybe Time Warner was waiting to see how long it took us to catch on- especially with things like the “What does GSLU mean to you?” topic which was started by the Admin. I get this suspicion that they were trying to see if people would catch the GSLU’s that are supposed to be in the movie (I have not seen it, and don’t plan to, partly because of this site) and chat about them here. Is this a test case for subliminal messaging? Is Time Warner looking for a way to infiltrate the brains of the unsuspecting theater goer? Excuse me while I go make myself a tinfoil hat to deflect the radio-waves that are being sent to the transmitter Time Warner had installed in my pineal gland when I was last at the dentist. |

Well, I have posted a plea for enlightenment on the “about this website” forum. We’ll see if admin responds! |
