The Mayan calender ends in 2012. Some theorize it is Armageddon or something. I think no one knows the day or the hour so why worry…God is in control:)

I put my trust in Santa Claus…I KNOW he answers my prayers every December 25…

The Mayan calendar doesn’t prophesize the end of the world in 2012. It prophesizes the end of a certain consciousness, that we will enter a new phase of consciousness and a new relationship with time. Whether you’re Christian or not, this could be valid. Maybe difficult to prove, but valid. The Mayans were very up on their astronomy and I think they foresaw a certain change in planetary alignment or something..

Does it really comfort you that “god is in control”? Wouldn’t you rather be in charge of your own fate?

Actually God is in control of the big picture. We have the right and freedom to do as we wish but God’s objective is still the same. I am in charge of my ultimate destination, but because of the laws set forth by God there are only two choices. I think we know what two choices I am speaking of.

If you really believe you have so much control over your “fate” then explain why things don’t always go your way. Explain why you can’t completely steer your ship without going off course. Something like the laws of physics come into play, every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction. People do things that interact with our lives whether directly or indirectly and we affect others the same. That is the law of free will whether good or bad, things happen. But in the end there are two destinations. That I am sure of.

Ok…but just because I’m in charge of my own fate doesn’t mean I have all the answers. Life is a process of discovery, of learning. If I had all the answers, there’d be no point in it, no fun, no equal and opposite reaction, just a straight and boring course til the grave.

And how exactly would you explain “the law of free will”? This is a question philosophers have been trying to answer for thousands of years. I’d be amazed if you had the final answer.

Life would be pointless and boring if God did not give us a place to learn and discover. Although it was not meant to be this way. It was intended to be even more exciting and amazing but that is where God’s design of free will came into play. Life as it was intended was completely altered by the choice of another and so it will ever be. Yes often life is fun and so often it is sad and miserable.

We do steer our own vessels, but sometimes the ship takes on water if you know what I mean. I intended for my life to be something else, but by “accident”, (maybe not the right word) I am doing something completely different that I intended.

I can’t explain the law of free will but I experience it every second of my life. I can’t explain why water is wet but it is.

I find the descriptions of our interrelationship with the God-Creature somewhat disturbing…Granted,being immortal must get to be something of a bore after a few zillion years…but he seems to be playing with mankind…He could give us all a good view of himself if he really wanted to…This would go a LONG way in my believing in him(depends if I’d been drinking or drugging that night)...He could get rid of sins and suffering if he so chose…Hey,he’s G-O-D isn’t he…? Poor sales promotion in terms of God,Inc.

I understand your dilemma. I have often thought that maybe God was a kid doing some kind of science experiment to see if we would worship him or not, destroy the world and each other in the process. But I know this is a silly notion.

There is a small but possible chance of the poles shifting on December 12 2012. The earth, sun and moon will be aligned like they have not been in over 25 thousand years. The poles have shifted before so this is not an impossibility but it would wipe all of us out. I just hope I am here to watch it happen but I’m not holding my breath. Even the Mayans were flawed.

It does not end.. It just restarts as it has 3 times already on the 15th and 13th Katun(Era).. But it is not just the Mayans who place emphasis on this day friends.. The Mayan calender is in the shape of two cogs. One inside the other rotating with the times and there is a flat long piece to right that moves up and down to represent eras.. And once it is done every 5k years or so it simply restarts..(History always repeats itself)
