I have a few, Little Drummer Boy is one, but not for the reason you think maybe, because it is so funny to hear artists such as Bing and Bowie sing “Parump a pum pum”. And The Nutcracker is kinda cool, but maybe not really a “song”?

“Little Drummer Boy is one, but not for the reason you think maybe, because it is so funny to hear artists such as Bing and Bowie sing ‘Parump a pum pum’.”
Listen to Josh Grobans version. It’s a little over-dramatic, but he still pulls it off quite nicely.

Why would you say “Xmas” on this site especially? It is a way of taking “Christ” out of “Christmas” ...and I was shocked to see that here. :(

It’s okay, I just happened to see an ad for this site and just stopped by and this was the first thing that caught my eye.
I suppose I had a preconceived notion of what this site was about (even though I was confused, and still am, by the biohazard thingy – lol).

And hopefully it will remain that way ;)
My favorite Christmas song would be the Nutcracker suite, which as mentioned earlier is not techically a “song” oh well.

Yeah, hon, you said it was OK, but why did you say what you did in the first one. I don’t see any remorse, at least rb pretended remorse. and that’s good enough for me. You’re new, rb already knows my posts are slightly nutty, I invite you to read a few more.

Why did I say what I did in the first one? Simple. Saying “Xmas” does, in fact, take “Christ” out of “Christmas” and His birth is what Christmas is all about. It bothers me when I see it, and like I said, I had some preconceived notions when I first clicked on the link that brought me to this site and this was the first thing I read on here.
Oh and I love the whole “you’re new” thing. This site has only been here a few weeks so technically, everyone here is “new”. =P
P.S. Please don’t call me “hon”. lol

Only religious peeps would think that Xmas is taking Christ out of Christmas…the X is actually an ancient sign…used by early Christians…Which makes me think of those fish signs on cars…some with legs…

You can call it whatever you want, it won’t change a thing for me. I certainly do not expect everyone to spell it out, nor do I expect everyone to capitalize the word God. Each to their own.

That’s an interesting way of combining capitalization with capitalism and buying thousands of dollars worth of presents from those merchants for Xmas, but I can see that’s what you were getting at, anyway… That was my first thought about the X, too, but you beat me to it, rb you are at light speed today.
OK, Zil, you’re not new, but you are not reviewing the threads very well yet (apparently), and we do expect you to do that if you want us to take your remarks more seriously. So, take some time if that is the case, we can wait awhile. I am speaking collectively here, folks, so if you don’t think I should, please say so. (Zil, you’re not allowed to comment on that, new or not, the great kookoo has spoken!) Old queens call everyone hon, sorry, you are the first person to take offense if that is what you meant, tho the lol indicates slightly otherwise.
Oh, “Silver Bells”, in addition to my other songs. I’d better stay on topic before anyone decides to go cut a switch.
Edit: Excuse me, I just re-read and got re-pissed off. You people added the Christ to Christmas in the first place, about 800 A.D. (It used to be just called “Mas”, hilarious, yes, but still pissed because you were obviously that way, too, in the first post no matter what you say now. and yes, you apologized, apology accepted, but listen up anyway) Christians needed a “festival” to replace the pagan celebration of the solstice (and All Saints Day to replace the harvest festival at which there was way too much fucking, and every other holiday ever celebrated by the godless) Read some history before you whine about taking the Christ out of Christmas. What, you think his birthday is really December 25? That calendar hadn’t been invented yet. That was shortly thereafter and I don’t think the Roman Empire gave one crap about the birth of Christ or what date he was born. Well, I really don’t remember when Gregor was emperor (pope), I’ll look it up if you want, the information is available to me, so now I’ll take my own advice and brush up on my history, too. The earlier emperors were much too busy naming months after themselves to worry about the date of birth of the Lord Almighty. I suppose those singing angels woke Rome up, too! Probably not. Christ out of Christmas, indeed. It never was Christmas and it never will be, there’s no such thing! You invented it! Get a grip, that is where we atheists are coming from. We don’t care what you believe and we don’t have to respect it, either, at least not all of the time, even on this site. And don’t be telling me that the date of Christ’s birth is really unknown and that is just the time that you celebrate it and you didn’t want it to be too close to Easter and that you really do know the actual date of easter because we know that today’s Jewish calendar was in full effect at the time at least in Judea because that was about all that was left of Israel then, etc. – I know all that! (and more!) The timing of these “celebrations” has already been explained above. I guess christians invented everything and also got to pick the names. Christians act way too superior sometimes and I call it as I see it. I ain’t acting superior here, either. Oh, you’re hurt, I took the Christ out of Christmas, TELL IT TO SEARS AND ROEBUCK! I doubt if they will listen either.
Besides, you’re off-topic – “O Holy Night” . So there. And I only capitalized all that stuff because you like it that way.
I am going to copyright these rants one of these days… OK, “We Three Kings” (!)

Well, I don’t know any Hannukah songs, though. That celebration was invented much earlier and with much more documentation.

Well… I had a feeling I’d see some rant like this eventually, just didn’t expect it to be so soon.
I’m not going to read over every single topic and post here – I don’t have that kind of time trying to raise two children on my own and figuring out how to make ends meet and getting laid off last week sure isn’t helping things. However, things are looking up and I’m thankful.
I’ve met plenty of people before just like you kookookachoo, (as I’m sure you would probably say the same about about coming into contact with people like myself), and I’ve heard similar rants and raves before from them.
I simply agreed to disagree with them and carry on focusing my time elsewhere on more positive things in my life, and I think it’s best for myself if I do the same thing now.
I wish you all the best.
...and God does love you, whether you want Him to or not and whether you believe in Him or not. ;)
