Out of all these forums i couldn’t find one about music, (although that could be because i’m blind in one eye and can’t see out the other. lol) but i thought i would make one.
My favorite music is Heavy Metal hands down, and Hard Rock is a close second. Thrash Metal is my favorite sub genre. Post-hardcore 3rd. (i really get into music. lol)

real post hardcore like fugazi or shellac or whatever butchering of post-hardcore the mtv crowd might be into right now. There is a difference.
Personally I’m into a lot of experimental/avant-guarde music as of late. Free jazz and ambient stuff as well.

Oh, man… just about anything works for me, if it’s done well. I’m a child of the ‘70’s, so I especially like acts like Fleetwood Mac. But I really dig Nine Inch Nails, too; as well as techno (Detroit industrial style rocks!), house, blues, disco, jazz, Celtic, folk, country, bluegrass… yeah, I can go on forever just naming genres, let alone acts within each genre.

Same problem and about the same age, so I’ve got an inherent weakness for 70’s southern rock.
But, I’m a trad. Irish musician, so I tend to listen to Celtic stuff, trad. and modernized.

I have the same problem, too many acts, too many genres, but 70’s Southern, for a start: The Outlaws. Lynryd Skynrd, Charlie Daniels, Molly Hatchet, The Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, Marshall Tucker, Johnny Cash, and so many more. I particularly love The Charlie Daniels Band. Listen to “Texas”, “Birmingham Blues”, “Redneck Fiddlin’ Man”, The South’s Gonna Do It”, “Funky Junkie”, dozens of other great songs…

You just named a bunch of my favorites, esp. ZZTop, The Outlaws, and, yes, the CDB, particularly when they were in western swing mode. About 12 years ago got to see the Southern Spirit tour, with Marshall Tucker, Outlaws, .38 Special, and the Barefoot Servants ( John Butcher Axis) at Red Rocks in CO. Took the Harley and the wife. Badass concert- Marshall Tucker and The Outlaws really made it.

And how could i forget Blackfoot! One of my all-time favorites! Man, that lead singer can wail! He may have passed on, I seem to remember there were two brothers (Metlocke?), but also part Amer. Indian. Lead singer brother had long straight hair all the way to his knees. Guitar playing brother is now lead guitarist for another big band, I just dont remember, but Blackfoot is officially disbanded about 10-15 years ago. Boy, do I remember a party when I saw the Outlaws open for them many years back. Such sweet sweet times!

I’ve seen Molly Hatchet about 20 times, my favorite time was when they toured with Foghat, and Danny Joe Brown was doing the lead vocals again. He had a slight case of laryngitis and couldn’t sing as well as he had hoped to. At the end of the show, he came out and said that they were appearing in Chicago two nights later and if anyone came down to Chicago from Milwaukee with their ticket stubs, he would make sure that we got into the show for free. It was at the Rosemont Horizon (Coliseum). They opened up the back of the stage and sat all the milwaukee people behind the stage. Our front rows were closer to the stage than the persons that paid to see the show. He mugged for us all night, it was so cool! His voice, needless to say, was perfect!

Yes! Almost forgot about those guys. Best version of “Train, Train,” ever done. I think it was the Metlock’s dad that did those banjo- y, swampy intros to a couple of their tunes.

I’m not a huge fan of DMX but he is a shining example of how people can change…

AL, I can’t see what you downloaded, just a big black square.
P.S. It may appear for me later, sometimes my computer won’t let me see them right away (or never).
