Faith: Christian (non-denomination) I was baptized Methodist, raised Baptist and wanted to be a nun for a few years in high school. In my experience, Non-Denomination focuses more on a personal relationship with Christ and growing spiritually.

New(er) Christian- my parents are methodists, but I’m more non-denominational, i guess. The way I worship is with a huge group of teens who love Jesus with their entire heart… i guess i’m from the Church of TAs, really. I accept every religion, even those that i think are fairly out there… like the church of elvis….. what’s up with that?

Thoughts: I’m an atheist who thinks that the Ten Commandments should be taken off of court house walls, but that the Beatitudes should be taught in elementary schools. I think sexual orientation is the product of environment, not genetics, and no more a choice or a sin than speaking your native language. I think the dichotomy between the treatment that so called “strong” and “weak” atheists receive from Christians speaks volumes about their real motives.

Likes: Being a daddy and spending time with my kids – I’ve been raising them completely on my own since Jan. 9th 2003. We have a blast playing video games together and most recently we’ve been rocking out playing ROCK BAND together and it is SO much fun! =D We’ve been big into the Guitar Hero games for the past year, and I used to play drums, so it’s nice for us all to play that game together. I’ve always been big on video games, (I still have a working Atari 2600!), and my favorites besides Rock Band and Guitar Hero are FFXI, Halo, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Tony Hawk, NFSU, God Of War, etc. Classics like Pac-Man, Asteroids and even Zelda and Metroid are still awesome, though.
I also used to play drums many years ago-wait, I said that already lol oh well—and that’s where “Zil” comes from. Zildjian cymbals are just THE best on the planet, and I used to go by the full name until I played Socom on PS2 and nobody could pronounce it so I just said: “Just call me ZIL!” heheh
I love music. Primarily the louder, heavier, more aggressive stuff. Chimaira, Demon Hunter, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, etc. I hate country music, though. Every now and then some Counting Crows and Ben Folds and the like is cool, too.

Dislikes: Dishonesty. Shallowness. Two-faced people.

Faith: Christian. Raised in Baptist churches and also attended some Church of Christ churches but I consider myself to be “non-denominational” as they say. (Personally, I prefer having musical intruments in church so.. yeah – not too big on C.O.C. lol)

Notes: I am not perfect. I do not claim to be. I haven’t been to church but once in the past few months. I cuss a lot more than I should but I curb it around my children and my parents, etc. I tend to agree heavily with an old friend of mine who posed this question once: “How can a word be bad?”
Also, I am a divorced single father of two awesome kids (as I also mentioned already) but I never wanted to be—divorced, that is. I married at 20 and had every intention of spending the rest of my life with her… but you can only take so much deceit and lies and unfaithfulness in a lifetime, I believe. Let’s just say: It is a miracle my kids are actually mine.
I press on in life because I am all my children have and they are all I have and we all need each other. They truly are my reason for living every single day.
