I’m FREEEEE!!!! Last class of my Master’s program and final paper all done tonight! Now I’m in recovery mode. Then it will be celebration mode. Then catch up on the rest of life. So I’ll still keep busy for a while, but in a better way.
EVE?

Is there a lot of conflict and warfare? Kind of didn’t seem like it from the FAQ’s. If I play a space game, I want big flashy special effects and the therapy of blowing stuff up :)

Life can always be better, but it’s always good, Gal.
Guys- this is a time of year when most forums are somewhat dead. Don’t worry about it. It starts picking up again near the holidays.

There’ll be a little to debate—sounds like you’ll put forward the nature of origin, Satolkin will say its primary driver and heart and soul are pagan, and I’ll say that it was co-opted for Christian purposes as a conversion aid and its heart and soul are now Christian.

I’m glad you’ve stuck around here, yourself, LDSGal. Sorry I’ve been kinda inactive. I’ve been pretty busy with various things, and much of my computer time has been caught up in election stuff. Given Obama’s desire to dictatorially overrule all abortion and marriage laws if he becomes president (he has stated that some of his top priorities are to do just that by signing the so-called “Freedom of Choice Act” and striking down the Defense of Marriage Act), his extreme view on these issues, and the likelihood of several Supreme Court vacancies that could set the tone of the SCOTUS for a decade, the Life issue in particular has never been so important as now. I’ve been busy fighting the good fight in this regards. Of course, Obama’s dead wrong (much more wrong than McCain) on so many other policy issues as well. The idea of a Democrat supermajority-first one for any party in quite a long time-is quite scary. I don’t think either party ever deserves or should have a supermajority, until such time as there is actual integrity, good policies, and lack of corruption in them (probably never, then).

Please allow me to add, appropriately, I think, Psalm 146:1-8 from my election Novena prayer today (http://www.catholicvote.com/pdf/FC_Novena.pdf):
Praise the LORD, my soul; I shall praise the LORD all my life, sing praise to my God while I live.
Put no trust in princes, in mere mortals powerless to save. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth; that day all their planning comes to nothing. Happy those whose help is Jacob’s God, whose hope is in the LORD, their God, The maker of heaven and earth, the seas and all that is in them, Who keeps faith forever, secures justice for the oppressed, gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free; the LORD gives sight to the blind. The LORD raises up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.
I know for you, Koo, and other atheists, this and the prayer I’ll add below, have much in them that you find pointless. But I think you, and even those Christians who don’t like the Marian nature of the prayer below, can appreciate many of the sentiments contained in them. Here’s the other prayer I’d like to add:
Immaculate Heart of Mary, help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths toward the future. From famine and war, deliver us. From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us. From sins against human life from its very beginning, deliver us. From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us. From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us. From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us. From attempts to stifle in human hearts the very truth of God, deliver us. From the loss of awareness of good and evil, deliver us. From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us. Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies. Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit conquer all sin: individual sin and the “sin of the world,” sin in all its manifestations. Let there be revealed once more in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the redemption: the power of merciful love. May it put a stop to evil. May it transform consciences. May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of hope. Amen.

Well, crap. So we’re all just going to agree, then.
Good psalm and prayer, Aran. Did you come up with the latter? I used to have problems with Marian- based prayer/ meditation, having been raised strictly Protestant, but Gnosticism changes all that.

We’ll see what LDSGal posts and then find our differences, minute as they may be :)
The prayer came from the Catholicvote.com election prayer campaign, as well. I wondered what you would think about Marian prayer, but I did suspect that it wouldn’t bother you much as a gnostic. Was it not the Nestorians that placed great emphasis on her, as well? Or am I getting my gnostic groups mixed up again?
