In my discussion with my friend, he also said that Obama would achieve energy independence and deal with our energy problems in an effective and efficient way. When I asked more about this plan, he said:

“Obama wants to make incentives for green energy and invest into it heavily, while establishing fees for carbon emissions.”

I ask no in return, how the heck is that going to help a damn thing in the next 10 years at least? That is going to cost more government and private sector money and cause gas, electricity, and natural gas prices to skyrocket even faster. We’re already almost to a tipping point where the economy will no longer be able to absorb the price increases without major impacts.

I am sure the ethanol stupidity will continue and probably get worse under Obama, as well. But when the government starts charging fees and taxing more to pay for expensive, uneconomical “green energy” investments that will take many, many years to make an impact on our energy situation and even more to become economically competitive.

With the ethanol fiasco continuing and policies that will only worsen energy prices, food costs will continue to rise rapidly, worsening world food shortages and hurting low income people in particular, and the cost of production and transportation will drive everything up.

It’s simple economics, really. Obama would be an unmitigated disaster to our economy solely through is incredibly stupid energy policy, if these are the things he is going to do.
