Torah,Bible,Quran.. Put them side by side and read them. A complete revelation? Dont look at what book is for what religion and judge. Dont read the inter. read actuall scripture’s. Intense |

One might read any books on religion one might wish…they are all equally…valid |

Well, let’s see… I don’t know Arabic, so according to many Muslim scholars I am incapable of understanding the Qu’ran. I know what was redacted from the Bible, so I know what’s left isn’t completely trustworthy. And I wouldn’t dare read the Torah without reading some accompanying Midrash, and preferrably with a Rabbi or learned Jew to help me understand it. (Which actually isn’t a bad idea with the other two sets of scriptures.) So how exactly do you propose I put them side by side and read them? ;-) And why stop at those three… why not the Mashaf Rash, the Hypostasis of the Archons, the Cath Maige Tuired, the Eddas, the Tao Te Ching, the legends of the Haudenosaunee, Shawandasse, and Tsalagi, or even the Kama Sutra? |

The “Book of ratboyism” is an easy read…skimming encouraged… |
You must add Kookoo’s geology/topography lecture and her rant on running down the aged. Plus the Elvis story I haven’t told yet. I’ll get to it, rb. |
And why stop at those three… Indeed. And don’t forget the Vedas. |

All of which is why a life of prayer and love is what we are all called for. Very few have the time, energy, education, or resources to undertake such a study as you suggest, or the wisdom and intelligence to make sense of any of it in relation to the rest. Man’s judgment is far too weak. That’s why “bibliolatry” (if I understand Swiss’s phrase correctly) is a problem: we should be spending more time with God and with each other and learning how to love than in textual study, because without prayer and love we will have no wisdom for discernment, and with it, we don’t need all that study. |

Wise words Arandur… |

PLUR…get the tatoo… |
Well said, Arandur. And yes, bibliolatry is a problem largely for the reasons you mention. That’s also one of the reasons why sola scriptura is officially considered a heresy by the [Catholic] Church. |
Ooh, heresy, we don’t talk about that often, fun fun fun! |
All good heretics enjoy a little heresy…now and then… |

Hey, rb, Change your sacrilege topic to Sacrilege Blasphemy and Heresy. Let’s have some fun, and only you can change the title. We haven’t been using it much and you could also edit your first post to remark that you changed it? Or start a new one, we could use it as the title of the next weekly thread, we are about due for one. I hope abs is OK, I think his home computer is still on the fritz. I’ll try an email, tho, too. Have fun this weekend, hon. |

We know that HIM (that would be Her Imperial Majesty) will most certainly (note:I didn’t call you Shirley) have a jolly weekend…As is fitting for such an august personage…hon |
So, FiNiX took up the slack for us, and now we have a lovely new topic to play in. Yes, in August, we will celebrate our 52nd birthday in the usual style. We usually commute an execution or two, a mimosa or six with Mumsy, then off to our casino, where we always win (our own money!), but it’s still fun, especially with an extra added attraction, Vodka!! (makes us forget that we’re winning our own money!) Ohhh. that kind of august, how sweet! What a dear person you are. |
Big A…little a…Thou art worthy of all our most humble salutaions upon your natal day…What’s that sucking sound? Erm…btw…how does one win one’s own dosh in casinos?... |
When one owns the casino, as Empress Kookoo does, one wins one’s own money. |
