It seems clear to me that this is some Time-Warner-sponsored create-an-ad-for-us contest. Time Warner is apparently too lazy to create their own ads. Presumably the property (film? videogame?) is in production or awaiting release—anybody know what it is? I took a quick look at Warner Bros. movies in production but nothing jumps out. Maybe it’s being released under another label.

Alternately, maybe Time Warner is giving away a laptop because they love God. I’m gonna guess “no” on that one.

So, guesses?

Avatar FiNiX 620 post(s)

Nope! But they’re steering us in a christianity-ish direction, so I’m going to ride it out for now. It’s pretty interesting in the meantime anyway.

Avatar Uncat 16 post(s)

“Steering”? “They”? Who, our colleagues on the board, or the website? I don’t see much on the website that’s specifically Christian. The page links at the top, I suppose—“Witness/testify/evangelize/redeem” are traditions specific to Christian practice, AFAIK. The phrase+graphic itself is way too vague to tie to one particular religious view.

Which means a wider potential audience, I suppose. I’m still intrigued by the fellow on the other thread who thinks this is all an evil use of memes.

I just want the prize … :-)

Oh … and I do believe “God still loves US.”

Funny… :)

If nothing else it will at least allow some witnessing to non believers. I think the statement is not to confrontational, intruiging, and will get some people interested who are looking for hope. I have the answer. -PLUR

“If nothing else it will at least allow some witnessing to non believers.”

What does that statement mean?

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 970 post(s)

Simply that I now have an opportunity to share the message of salvation with you or someone else. Somone I would otherwise probably never talk to. To have an opportunity to engage in a debate or discussion that othewise would not happen.

Im jus wondering WTF, I mean, I worked on this for about 5 hrs, posted it 2 wks ago and still haven’t come across my submission in the “witness” section, on top of that I cant get a hold of anyone running the site, so far things have been pretty shisty to navigate through on the GSLU site, is this another sick joke played on us by the almighty? hehe.

Avatar GSLU Administrator 37 post(s)

Dazeycutter, if you have not received and email regarding the status of your submission, please try again. If still you do not get a reply, email us at webmaster@godstilllovesus.org.

It seems like there are a lot of photos in the witness section. Are these all submissions, and if so, where did they all come from? Is the contest being advertised elsewhere and Dazeycutter is the only one ON the site that I know of that admits to entering a photo. I don’t want to enter a photo, I enjoy the site and prefer to go with what I’m doing there. just curious…

Avatar absoluteliquid 970 post(s)

Some of these new pictures have (apparently) nothing to do with GSLU or it’s logo…I guess they’re from the movie…

I don’t get it… if this site is a viral promotion for “Legend”... why is there such a complete lack of overt refrences to the movie? Not that I know anything about the flick other than having seen the trailer and read a review that says the movie takes an intriguing concept & turns it into a hackneyed horror film.

That’s the thing. If it’s an ad campaign, it’s a lousy one, and some Marketing exec’s head should roll.

I’m scheduled to see the flick New Years Eve, though, so maybe there’s a lot of reference back to the site. Who knows?

Somone I would otherwise probably never talk to.

Yeah, that too. Met some pretty fine folks in the short time I’ve been here.

This article lets it all make sense…

Definitely a strange experience. I uploaded two images, didn’t see them for a week, then finally after searching for a while I located an email address and contacted GSLU. Took them a while to answer, but when they finally did I saw my images (about three days later). I thought at first there was something fishy about this place, but then it could very well be a hype site. Either way we will all know the truth after January 8.

Welcome aboard, desktop.

Yup, January 8th… the end is nigh!

Totally not trying starting a beef, but why does the fact that it is linked to a commercial property infer its something bad, and on the other hand, why if it doesn’t hit you over the head with product marketing does it result in a marketing executive being fired? When did film become considered garbage, instead of expression. When did using the word “god” become something that can’t be done outside of a church or intense debate?

I’ve read some great conversations here. It appears it was clear to all of us that it was associated with Time Warner from the start. But I have never seen any force come in and try to influence the conversation. In fact its been quite the opposite. Completely objective. And now that the connection to the movie has been made, I assume its not going to change.

You know what – everything is hypocritical. The fact that these folks are not hiding their hypocrisy makes them a certain kind of legit in my eyes and this site has given me hope that we can discuss these things without being told what we think is wrong, without having to conform, and you know what else – it hasn’t cost me a dime. I have witnessed some great photographs and read posts that made me really think about what I believe – and how I go about believing it. No one has ever asked me for a thing or reprimanded me or anything.

Chet, look around, we are not saying it’s a bad thing. We like this site immensely, we are saying that it is “too bad” if it originally was envisioned as a hype site for the movie. We haved moved in and made it our own and the “Administration” has said that it is perfectly allright with them. You’ve got it right down up there, friend. Your first post is a doozy. Welcome to the site!

Now, if you WANT to be reprimanded, I COULD point you to a thread…lol

I guess even writing to the forum doesn’t always work- it dropped my last post.

Anyway I was saying I hope the contest part of this site isn’t totally busted, I’ve tried multiple times to upload a few pictures, to no avail. I’m guessing there are a lot more people sending pics than the ones shown. If the deadline comes up and they can’t get posted/judged, that’s just wrong.

Avatar kookookachoo 1,382 post(s)

chosetec, welcome to the GSLU website! Go above and try to email the administration at that address. It is the only way I know of getting their attention. They monitor all topics, too, but are a little slow in reply. You might try posting on other threads in this topic or on other threads in the About This Website/Suggestions section. Again, welcome, and good luck with youe quest.

I hope chet comes back, he seems to be a cool cat!

Thanks kookookachoo, I emailed the webmaster, still waiting for a response. I did get a chance to do a big photo shoot for the contest/gallery specifically, still have to edit and choose the pics. The pictures actually turned out better than I expected. I won’t be spoiling it just yet. But if they don’t show up on the site by tomorrow sometime, I’ll post them elsewhere just to have them up. (and to show that I did finish them on time, if that counts)

It started with us wanting to win those cool prizes, but ended up more about just having fun with the shoot.

Avatar GSLU Administrator 37 post(s)

All photos submitted are moderated within a number of days. You should receive an email notification. Be sure to check your spam folder just in case. The contest ends tonight at midnight. If you still have questions, email us at webmaster@godstilllovesus.org.
