The official rules state: “The photo must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement.”

However, under the heading: “For All Entries” I am beings ask to give up the copyright to my creative work (SUBMITTING AN ENTRY IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES ENTRANT’S IRREVOCABLE ASSIGNMENT, CONVEYANCE AND TRANFERENCE TO SPONSOR OF ANY AND ALL RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST IN THE PHOTO INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ALL COPYRIGHTS.) Because I am the creator of an original work copyright ownership is inherently and forever mine. I have no problem with this website using my photographic design to promote and advance the success of the “God Still Loves Us” effort in any way. But as a professional photographer and designer I am not willing to give up total rights to my work. Relinquishing all interests in my creative work cannot possibly aid the success of this contest. Sadly, my excitement for participating in this contest has faded away. If I’m missing something here, I would welcome any feedback or clarification.

Having a photo contest is how a lot of organizations get good free art. Images from a stock house costs hunderd of dollars and up to thousands of dollars to purchase rights for. That’s why they have the clause in the contest rules for you to give up your rights. If you believe in the organization then you are effectively making a contribution to a cause you wish to to serve.
