Interesting examples then…?

Some have implied that prayer is an illusion. I suspect it’s something else though.

I think it’s something more similar to meditation or self-hypnoses. As for if it is in fact a conversation with god? I don’t know, it might be.

FiNix…I think I’ll go with the illusion/meditation biz…I know some say praying is the only way they survived terrible happenings in their lives…prison, illness, violence and such…

Meditation has actually been proven to help with things like that.

Anything that is controlled by your brain can be effected by your psycological outlook, and seeing as your brain controls every aspect of your body…

In my experience, prayer is a very real, very active and productive act. It really depends on who/what you are praying to.
I know that at any time I can talk to my Creator at any time which I suppose is some sort of meditation. On the proactive side of things I believe prayer is God’s way of involving us in everything that goes on in our lives and everything that is going on in the world. One needs to understand that prayer is not like asking Santa Clause for presents. It’s really more along the lines of immediate up link with the System Programmer. We need to realize that we can’t see the whole game so if we don’t receive what we want when we want it, that is not necessarily a bad thing.

God tells us in His word to pray and how we should.

When I pray I do so for His will to be done and not mine. His will is most important in prayer. I have the priviledge as a believer to ask for things – salvation of others – healings ect ect. However, I should always try to have a heart that believes that God knows what is best.

I also know that this is also the difference between miracles and magic.

All things for His glory according to His will and not mine.

If the God creature will be doing his own will…why bother to ask/pray to him…?...It’s almost like saying…”Yo,God…over here…”

First thing that comes to mind is – in order to be partakers with God – have fellowship with him – hang out with Him. At first that was really uncomfortable for me – because I had an earthly Father that abused me. So I thought – I don’t want to hang out with a Father especially a big one :)

Then my other though on prayer is for comfort – sometimes and sometimes more I have had issues with myself and others (understatement). So I go to God to tattle :)

I have learned also to ask God for things yes – shame on me – but I ask knowing that if he doesn’t give me what I want then it would not have been best for me or for His kingdom.

Did I explain at all :) Hope so :) I see you were just here. I prayed first and then ended up here :)

God bless you Ratboy – he loves you ya know :) sista Thea

James 2:23

And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.

Glad things are working out for ya, EC. Sounds like if these Islamic extremists want their 72 virgins, they just need to up the number of times they’re praying per day. Get the word out!

I notice adverse repercussions in my life when I slack off on my praying… I don’t think I pray enough and I would probably say the same about lots of Christians out there…
