Great fun…one can twist it in ever so many jolly ways…How would you write your own personal religion…?

Avatar FiNiX 620 post(s)

Oh, jolly good fun, yes! This would have to be mine:

After dying, one’s soul would go to the spirit world, where it would retain it’s memories, from each of it’s lives, until it’s ready to return to the meterial world via reincarnation and lose it’s memories once more.

For a soul to be chosen to return to the meterial world as a human would be an honour and a responsability, as it would be granted the ability to help those souls around it, in ways that other meterial beings could not.

The goal of each or it’s lives would be to enrichen it’s soul, and the richer the soul, the more important the creature it would be meterialized as, so as to enrichen the souls of those around it and to help others of the meterial world.

Keep here in mind, that the most important may not be the most powerful, and just because humanity has the greatest power over this world does not mean that the world belongs to humanity.

A good mix is prefered, because humans can’t do everything.

Plants would also have souls, by the way.

Reincarnation is a very appealing concept…In my next life I should hope to be able to sing on key and be better in maths…My needs are small

Avatar FiNiX 620 post(s)

Lol. I wouldn’t want to be human in my next life.

Avatar absoluteliquid Moderator 970 post(s)

My take on religion has developed to the point that I really think its all just a way for humans to exercise some form of control or influence over other humans. That is in the very generalized definition of it being a set of standards, practices, and/or rituals set forth and adhered to by a group of people.
Now, you are obviously refering to the more personal use of the word relating to your faith/world view/beliefs. I think I would really define it as your own belief system, versus religion. I based mine off Christianity and there are certainly parts of my faith that other Christians would look down on and judge as immoral or against God. I’m not a conservative but I shun liberals. I take my faith more serioiusly than most professing Christian conservatives probably do. I would like to think I’m more liberal than alot of “Liberals” that I have had discussions with.
Ego is outplayed. Humilty and repentance are the first steps to enlightenment and salvation. There IS more going on than meets the eyes photosensitive cells. We need to tune into life with more senses than we are used to using.

FiNiX: “I wouldn’t want to be human in my next life”...I’ll be careful of the small creatures I step on in future…Cheers

can’t go wrong with Valhalla-but I must agree with the norms of Humanism in saying that personal God’s tend to be nonconstructive. It’s not an end-all be-all, but it’s hard to argue with…

Oh, this is fun…

The other night my friend got home to find a plate and cup in front of her husband’s widescreen tv, placed. She annoyedly placed it in the dishwasher. But then a later phonecall from the man revealed that he really does love the tv more than his wife. To cheer her up I stated that the afore-mentioned plate and cup looked, to the eyes of someone with a background in anthropology, to have been placed there as an offering to the great god Tele. The man worships the tv, thus was reverting to some sort of primitive instinct to leave it offereings of chips and soda, those foods which he himself found most tasteful.

Not really an invented religion, but also not an implausible concept when you look at it from a certain perspective. After all, that tv was the source of the man’s greatest joy. And let’s not forget the holy trinity: Tele, Net, and the Blessed Video Game. lol

Life of Brian…genius…

OK heres a question…if you believe in the bible and the words and teachings of it then why would you want to make up your own religion?

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

Erm…because some of us here abouts…don’t believe…

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,380 post(s)

Well, there is the thing about worshipping and praying privately instead of showing off in a big group of people. Many christian religions were re-made due to schisms (spelling?), that is a split-off from a previous faith due to different beliefs or other reasons such as a lot of hatred between folks, etc.

But this reminds me of a joke:

A man was on a bridge preparing to commit suicide by jumping. Another gentleman came along and noticed what the other was doing and cried out “Stop what you’re doing! Don’t you believe in God! The bible says that you mustn’t kill yourself”
Suicidal man: “Why, yes, I do believe in God, I’m a Baptist”
Passerby: I’m a Baptist, too! Are you a Southern or Northern Baptist?
SM: Northern Baptist
P: I’m a Northern Baptist, too. What a coincidence! Are you of orthodox persuasion or reformed?
SM: Reformed, of course
P: Me, too! Are you Northeastern Reformed or Northwestern Reformed?
SM: Well, Northeastern, my friend, you know those Northwesterners have got it all wrong.

With that the passerby screamed “Die, heretic!” and pushed the first man off the bridge!

Perhaps a new thread with some humorous stories? Let’s keep it social, though.

Do the religious tell atheist jokes…?

Avatar FiNiX 620 post(s)

“Do the religious tell atheist jokes…?”

It isn’t so much a religious joke, as is a religious joke.

FiNiX, I so like your style!

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,380 post(s)

I BUMP the topic. The roots of RBism are here! Sacred texts! Scribes, scribe this stuff directly into the rbible. Now, scribe, dammit!

Edit: 1/31/08: I command it!

My own religion…...
There will be a god.
It is monotheistic.
many morals that are similar to the bible.
when someone dies; they will go to a place of natural paradise, The god will show him or her “The Chain of Memories”; then the person have the choice to go through stages of different worlds and find his or her true meaning of life and original purpose to fufill. Once reaching the final stage; they will battle the full form of their sin. If the person win, they get to finally go back to the our world of Humans; and fufill their purpose. Once done, the chain will break and the person will disappear; purpose fufilled….............

Sain, go to bed! Your Auntie Kookoo should have been in bed ages and ages ago, but still here pecking away at 6:24. Please review your above post and then write a new really long post explaining that post. I just don’t know what you’re talking about! But it already sounds better than scientology! I see, though, that RBism is probably not gonna be your thing. (pssst! rb! we may have to get the chloroform out again!! Converts are just not swarming in like we’d hoped!) Perhaps we could add some of these features to RBism to attract the masses! I see a t-shirt: “purpose fulfilled, now kindly move on”, but no, won’t fit on a hat, never mind… I think 57ism could catch on with the right marketing geniuses.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

RBism is careful not to make too many promises to the faithful…we fear YouTube…The chloroform idea sounds splendid…

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,380 post(s)

Well, you already know that I AM splendid, now even more splendiferous!

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

And the MODESTY thingy…can we talk…?

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,380 post(s)

What is this thing that you call “modesty”? never heard of it.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

A simple diversion of the lower classes…of no import…

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,380 post(s)

No wonder I know nothing about it then. There’s not much of the other kind of modesty in my household, either. We are a bit clothing optional around here, especially in the summertime.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

But the stilletos…a different matter…
