Stay here and tell us about it. Oh, thank you for sharing, when I look at it, why won’t you be there to explain it all to me, I’m am such an unbeliever, I need help, I don’t understand, how can I find Christ without your personal hand, guiding me toward that light that I can barely see right now. I know I never will get there without your help mss05. When you come back to guide all of us, you should change your nickname, we don’t know what it means, how about flamer_No.15!

What if I didn’t want the gift in the first place? Now I owe this guy something I didn’t even want. Is he cool with re gifting? He can just have it back.

You two…I think some young scamps will be finding coal in their stockings come Christmas morn…

Is this “gift” anything like the ones they promise to give you at the end of test drives and timeshare tours?

At least with those, you can still get the gift at the end without obligating yourself, if you’re savvy enough…

I thought that advertising system is what the pagan world tried out, Swiss. You know, sacrifice to this god, buy this token, put this idol in your home, thats enough to keep wind god from messing with your stuff. But if you agree to be his minion, he’ll give you A/C!

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,382 post(s)

You guys can guide me toward the light anytime!

Avatar SwissCelt 244 post(s)

LOL! Good response, Arandur.

Seriously, though, calling Christ a “gift” rather misses the point. It bugs me, too, because the transaction these “salvation is a gift” types describe is hardly a gifting at all. More a quid pro quo; or maybe (cynically, I observe) even an extortion. It’s all love and light after you “receive God’s gift” in these kinds of theology, right up until it’s time to pay up by literally selling your soul to God through the post-Protestant church that sold you on the idea of Christ as a “free gift”.

I’d imagine that even mainstream Christians such as you would be offended by this presentation of the Gospel.

I didn’t go to the site. I have resolved not to go to flamer’s sites, I have excellent virus protection, firewall protection, etc. but they say god is all-powerful…lol

I wouldn’t be offended that Jesus is the gift.
The word gift on relating to a person can also mean a blessing.
Example: “Sain57 is a gift to his mother.”
Compare: “Sain57 is a blessing to his mother.”
Actually at my church, the pastor said that Jesus is an indescribable gift.
Ex.: Jesus is an indescribable blessing.
In conclusion: Jesus is an indescribable blessing

We are all a jolly gift for each other…please save all bows

but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God did give His Son as a sacrifice for all who would accept it – (take it as their own.) All I did was say Help me Jesus please! I believe that I “saved” and didn’t even quite understand what was happening or even would happen next – but truly I felt convicted of things that I had not even flinched at before I cryed for help.

I also started to believe in hope! also came purpose. Sure I still had many battles and still do but I would not trade Jesus my Lord and savior for anything or anyone.

It is kind of hard to explain because it is a miracle.

I don’t know why God would choose to do it this way ( I mean suffer, die, and rise again ( God in the flesh) on a cross for us but I do know that I am in!

and ratboy and all of you are very important to God as well. I am so sure about that :)

“and ratboy and all of you are very important to God as well.”

The world needs its fair share of trouble makers. ;3

I hope to be able to continue to share my experiences – I guess we can all get in trouble at times :)

At least I know that I can :)

Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

Welcome to the forums, GP!

I feel I must ask: What’s the catch? I ask, because I’ve been down this road before. Sure, salvation is a “free gift”... but then comes all the obligations to an increasingly jealous and small god, and before I know it I’m selling Amway, voting Republican, and saying things like, “Was Thomas Jefferson really saved?”

Too often, the “free gift” of salvation is like a gateway drug to an addiction, an addiction of self-hatred and xenophobia.

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

“The world needs its fair share of trouble makers”...GASP…and to think I’ve worked me fingers to the bone fer you lot…I’ve cooked meals…scrubbed floors…patched undies…OK…How was I to know that kookoo wanted those holes in those places?...sigh

Avatar kookookachoo Moderator 1,382 post(s)

Gotta keep those bulges in the right places (especially now that there are so many!). Now then, hon, you ain’t gotta do that no more, you’re the god, you’re the gift now! We got servants for that now, well, you should still cook! Spam is a wonderful thing! And if you want to indulge my underwear fetish, oh, my, my, feel free… (and, if you oiled the floors instead of scrubbing, OK then, never mind, carry on!)

Sain is so right about this, a gift that is a blessing. I use the word all the time, for example, you, my friends, are a blessing to me! I will thank you always for such a gift!

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

WE ARE NOT WORTHY…ok…I am…but thanks fer the kindish words,oh empress amoung queens…thy spangled pants are as a guiding light to the faithful…and that plain clothes copper at the top of the road…

Avatar GodsPromises 32 post(s)

I always leave the porch light on for that detective, but he so NEVER comes to visit. I give up! Yes, hands in the air, I know, just temporarily!

Avatar ratboy Moderator 1,196 post(s)

Woof…don’t make him get physical…

Avatar emptycalm 298 post(s)

So god gives the gift of jesus(himself) to save humanity from…himself? That’s a bit pointless.

There you go…thinking logically…

Avatar Arandur 624 post(s)

No, to reconcile humanity with God, to save humanity from itself, not from God.
